The period of the <strong>Napoleonic occupation<\/strong> was turbulent, but it contributed to numerous <strong>urban renewal projects<\/strong>, many of which, however, were only materially implemented later, under the <strong>Habsburg administration<\/strong>. Some of them are concentrated in <strong>Piazza Bra'<\/strong>, which became the true living room of Verona on the occasion of the <strong>Congress of the Holy Alliance in 1822<\/strong>. The role of Verona as a stronghold of the <strong>Quadrilateral in an anti-Piedmontese function<\/strong>, however, justified a mainly military architectural effort, with interventions on several kilometers of ramparts, dozens of fortresses, barracks and other buildings connected to the Austro-Hungarian war apparatus.<\/span><\/pre><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif\"><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/span><br \/>&#013;\n<span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif\">A visit dedicated to the nineteenth century can be modulated according to the logistical needs of each, including for example <strong>a walk along some stretches of ramparts<\/strong> between Porta Nuova and Porta San Zeno, or touching the area between the <strong>Austrian Arsenal<\/strong>, Palazzo Carli (headquarter of Radetzky) and the neoclassical buildings of <strong>Piazza Bra&#8217;<\/strong>.
