AVAILABLE IN LANGUAGES:

The castle known to all as Castelvecchio was built around 1354 by Cangrande II Della Scala to protect himself from his enemies and was equipped with a private bridge that crosses the Adige river. Since 1924 it has housed a valuable collection of statues, paintings, goldsmith’s artefacts, sculptures, ancient weapons, a vast collection that goes from the early Christian era to the 18th century, with a particular focus on Veronese Gothic art, with works by artists such as Stephen of Verona and Pisanello.

The manor has been damaged and renovated several times over the centuries, until, between 1958 and 1974, the famous architect Carlo Scarpa brought the castle back to its former glory, reinterpreting the museum in a modern key.
